This report summarises information from surveys and presents an analysis of customs and HFC Registry data, which supports claims from prominent industry stakeholders that large quantities of illegal HFC refrigerants are entering the EU market.
The Montreal Protocol was agreed in 1987 with a pressing mission to regulate the chemicals directly destroying Earth’s ozone layer and is celebrated as the world’s most successful environmental treaty.
Our climate work aims to tackle the pressing threat of climate change by eliminating powerful greenhouse gases including methane and those used widely in the cooling sector, improving energy efficiency of replacement technologies and investigating the illicit trade in refrigerant greenhouse gases.
