Run, swim, cycle, climb or bake to help fund EIA’s work!

Ever wondered if you’ve got what it takes to run, swim or cycle for charity? Maybe you want to do all three? Well, I’m here to tell you how!

By signing up to a sporting event for EIA, not only will you be pushing yourself to achieve personal goals and get fit in the process, you’ll also be helping to protect some of the world’s most endangered species and environments. If you’re looking to fundraise for a good cause, then look no further!

Over the years, EIA has been extremely fortunate to have supporters willing to take on the wildest and most daring challenges to raise money in support of our work. A few examples include:
• Long-term supporter Iain Tenquist, who not only ran the Chester Marathon for us but also scaled Mount Kilimanjaro;
• Matt Bidault, part of the 5 Skinny Men team, decided to hop on his bike and cycle 960 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats;
• EIA friend James Levelle took on one of the world’s ‘toughest cyclosportive events’ by cycling the gruelling 780km Alpine route from Geneva to Nice;
• EIA staff members, past and present, Debbie Banks, Charlotte Davies and Justin Gosling have all tackled the Brighton Marathon in the past two years.

We are always eager to hear from supporters who would like to fundraise for us in any sort of challenge, whether taking on a sporting event or holding a quiz night, bake sale or coffee morning in aid of EIA. We want to hear about anything and everything and will help you along the way.

So, without further ado, let me tell you about the exciting opportunities we have for our supporters in 2014!

Currently, we have three places available for the Brighton Marathon 2014 on April 6. If you feel you’ve got what it takes and would like to tackle 26 miles for us, please get in touch (details below).

Alternatively, if a marathon isn’t quite your cup of tea you can also take part in the 5k or 10k Superhero Run on May 18, a fantastic opportunity for you to ‘suit up’ and become an EIA superhero for the environment!

For those who would much rather peddle than pound the pavement, you can take part in the London to Brighton Cycle Challenge in September 2014. This scenic 50-mile route takes you from the heart of London to famed seaside town Brighton and is not to be missed. So, as Sir Chris Hoy would say – ‘Get on yer bike!’

You are welcome to register for some of these events by following this link and we will get in touch shortly after with your fundraising pack and further information.

By choosing to fundraise for EIA, we promise to support you throughout your challenge. You will receive a fundraising pack with helpful hints and ideas for sponsorship, ongoing support from the fundraising team plus words of ‘wisdom’ and encouragement in all your endeavours.

Additionally, you can share your training and fundraising progress on Facebook and our website by posting written or video blogs, and so hopefully encourage others to get involved.

If you want to take part in an event not listed here, please feel free to sign up individually and get in touch with us so we can help.

We can’t do what we do without our wonderful and committed supporters, willing to run crazy distances, jump out of planes or spend a Sunday afternoon holding a car boot sale instead of enjoying a lazy day on the settee. Best of all, you do all of this for EIA – and for that we cannot thank you enough!

If you are interested and would like to take part in any of the events mentioned, or just want more information, please get in touch with me via lynnedavies@eia-international.org or +44(0)20 7354 7969.
