Following outrage at mass killings of pilot whales in the Faroe Islands where the creatures were subjected to extreme distress, pain and suffering, we urged direct protests to the Government of the Faroe Islands as the most effective way to express concern, specifically the Prime Minister and the Minister of Fisheries
The Environmental Investigation Agency and eight other NGOs have written to the Prime Minister of the Faroe Islands, Kaj Leo Johannesen, to express their deep concerns about the high number of pilot whales killed there so far this year. In the year to August 24, 590 long-finned pilot whales have been killed.
