Are you ready to help EIA fight wildlife crime in The Big Give?

Double your donations and help EIA stop the illegal wildlife trade!

On December 4, 5 and 6 there is an incredible opportunity to have your donation to EIA doubled through the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2014. This means that your gift will go twice as far supporting our crucial work in 2015 to fight the illegal wildlife trade.

Globally, the illegal wildlife trade is worth billions, meaning it’s now the fourth most lucrative illegal trade in the world, with links to terrorism and other serious criminal activities. While demand for commodities such as elephant ivory and tiger parts & products soars, incidents of poaching have increased dramatically and some of the world’s most iconic species now face the real threat of extinction.

EIA works tirelessly to investigate and expose the major players behind environmental crime, providing irrefutable evidence of illegal activity in order to effect real change.

EIA faces enormous challenges as these species face an onslaught as never before, but we will not give in.

Through investigations, often conducted undercover and in dangerous conditions, we use the evidence gathered to compile comprehensive reports and effectively lobby for change. Some of our recent reports include In Cold Blood: Combating organised wildlife crime and Hidden in Plain Sight: China’s Clandestine Tiger Trade; both examining wildlife crime and the burgeoning trade that’s devastating populations of elephants and tigers in the wild. EIA’s short film, In Cold Blood, also gives insight into the devastating nature of wildlife crime.

Most recently, EIA published the report Vanishing Point: Criminality, Corruption and the Devastation of Tanzania’s Elephants and accompanying short film Vanishing Point, which spurred massive public outcry and received extensive global coverage in the media (including the BBC, New York Times and even America’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart). The report highlights a level of killing that hasn’t been seen since the 1980s. The statistics show that Tanzania has lost half its elephants in the past five years alone, all to feed a resurgent ivory trade in China.
